So this is a break up song - I haven't broken up with anyone for over 30 years and hope never to do so again... A country ballad (complete with Rory doing Willie Nelson style lead noodlings) which was inspired by someone else's experience and drew together a bunch of tangled images and memories from my younger self and of friends we knew in 1990s Glasgow. It has self-pity and self-centred longing written right through it... a narrator who can't go back but who's not ready to move on and is reading their present and future entirely through someone in their past.
